What Is TiviMate?
TiviMate is an IPTV player app for Android-based devices. It doesn't provide any channels itself — it's a player, like a remote control for streams you already have access to. You feed it a playlist from your IPTV provider (in our case, your Xstream 4K IPTV subscription) and TiviMate turns that into a polished, Sky-style interface with a full TV guide, channel groups, favourites and catch-up.
What makes TiviMate the favourite among serious UK streamers is the detail. The electronic programme guide (EPG) is genuinely good, channel switching is fast, and the layout looks like a premium set-top box rather than a hobby app. If you want the closest thing to a real Sky Q or Virgin TiVo feel from your Firestick, TiviMate is the player to use with your Xstream 4K IPTV playlist.
Supported Devices — And What Is NOT Supported
TiviMate only runs on Android-based devices. That covers most popular streaming hardware in the UK, but there is one important limitation to understand before you buy a device for it.
Amazon Firestick
Firestick 4K, 4K Max and Fire TV Cube all run TiviMate via sideloading with the Downloader app. The most popular choice in the UK.
Android TV
Sony, Philips, TCL, Nvidia Shield and Chromecast with Google TV install TiviMate straight from the Google Play Store.
Android Phones & Tablets
TiviMate is built for the big screen but also runs on Android phones and tablets from Google Play.
NOT on Samsung / LG
TiviMate does NOT work on Samsung Tizen or LG webOS smart TVs, and it is not on Apple TV or iOS.
TiviMate Free vs TiviMate Premium
The core TiviMate app is completely free and perfectly usable — live TV, EPG, channel groups and a single playlist all work without paying a penny. TiviMate Premium is a low-cost yearly subscription (roughly £5 a year, or a one-off lifetime option) that unlocks the power-user features.
| Feature | TiviMate Free | TiviMate Premium |
|---|---|---|
| Live TV & EPG | ✓ Yes | ✓ Yes |
| Single playlist | ✓ Yes | ✓ Yes |
| Multiple playlists | ✗ No | ✓ Yes |
| Recording (PVR) | ✗ No | ✓ Yes |

How to Install TiviMate on Firestick (Step by Step)
TiviMate isn't in the Amazon Appstore, so on a Firestick you sideload it using the free Downloader app. It takes about five minutes and the APK is under 20 MB.
Install TiviMate on Android TV & Nvidia Shield
On a proper Android TV device — Sony, Philips, TCL, Chromecast with Google TV or an Nvidia Shield — it's even simpler because TiviMate is in the Google Play Store.
Add Your Playlist — Xtream Codes or M3U
This is where your Xstream 4K IPTV subscription connects to the app. When TiviMate first opens it asks you to add a playlist. You have two ways to do it — both supplied with your subscription details by WhatsApp.
EPG, Recording & Multi-Playlist
Once your playlist is in, TiviMate's best features come alive. Here's what to set up next to get the full Sky-style experience.
EPG / TV Guide
Xtream Codes logins usually pull the EPG automatically. If not, add the EPG URL under Settings › EPG › EPG sources to get the 7-day guide.
Recording (Premium)
With Premium you can record live channels to a USB drive or internal storage — ideal for catching a match while you're out.
Multi-Playlist (Premium)
Run several playlists side by side — handy for a UK package plus a world TV or sports add-on under one guide.
Favourites & Groups
Build a custom group of just your channels — Sky Sports, TNT, news — so the guide isn't cluttered.
For sport, TiviMate plus a low-latency provider is the combination to beat. With Xstream 4K IPTV you get Sky Sports 4K and TNT Sports inside the same guide, and the EPG shows kick-off times so you can set a reminder or a recording. If you ever see stutter on a match, it's almost always the connection rather than the app — our stop IPTV buffering guide sorts that in minutes.
TiviMate vs IPTV Smarters Pro
These are the two most-used IPTV players in the UK. Neither is "wrong" — it comes down to your device and how much you care about the TV-guide experience.
| Feature | TiviMate | IPTV Smarters Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Android TV / Firestick power users | All-round, works everywhere |
| Samsung / LG / Apple TV | ✗ Not supported | ✓ Supported |
| EPG quality | Excellent — Sky-style | Good |
| Recording | ✓ With Premium | Limited |
| Multiple playlists | ✓ With Premium | ✓ Yes |
| Interface | Premium TV box feel | App-style grid |
| Cost | Free + ~£5/yr Premium | Free |
Short version: if you're on a Firestick or Android TV and want the slickest guide, use TiviMate. If you're on a Samsung, LG or Apple device, or want one app across mixed hardware, go with IPTV Smarters Pro. Both work flawlessly with an Xstream 4K IPTV subscription.
